Introduction
This site is for anyone who wants to know more about the practicalities of copyright. So let’s make a start by working to create a familiar object which involves all the interactions between creativity and copyright ownership that everyone, from scribbler to Hollywood director, grapples with. And what could be more familiar than the everyday greetings card?
In this exercise you are going to design and create a greetings card. You can do the exercise on your own, or as part of a group if you prefer. You will be able to combine your own work with some resources provided for you. At the end of the exercise, when you are happy with the card you have created, there are a number of questions to answer. This is not an assessed exercise so don’t worry about getting them right or wrong. It’s meant to be a fun introduction to the unavoidable ways in which creativity and copyright interact, something that the rest of the site is dedicated to explaining in much more detail.
